Privacy Policy
StarKeeper is a tool parents use to track their own children's routines, behavior and rewards. This policy explains what the service stores, why, and how to get rid of it.
What we collect
Parent account information
- Your email address, used to sign in and to send password-reset messages.
- A cryptographic hash of your password. We never store or have access to the password itself. Authentication is handled by Supabase Auth.
Information you enter about a profile
A parent creates each profile and enters everything in it. A profile usually describes a child, but it can also describe an adult in the household — some families let the children track a parent. The same rules on this page apply either way. A profile can include:
- A display name or nickname, and a chosen emoji or avatar.
- Routines, habits, rewards and consequences you define, and the record of which were logged on which day.
- Point balances and the full transaction history behind them.
- Allowance settings and usage, such as screen-time minutes used.
- Prizes you create and the record of prizes redeemed.
- Schedule entries such as school hours or activities.
- A numeric PIN, if you set one so your child can sign in to view their own profile.
We ask you not to put anything in these fields you wouldn't want stored — a first name or nickname is enough. StarKeeper never asks a child for personal details directly.
Usage information
- Information about how StarKeeper's features are used — for example which screens are opened and which features are tapped, and how long screens and taps take to respond, recorded as a rough band (for example "under a second"), never a precise time — tied to your account. We record that something happened, never what you typed: no item names, child names, notes, amounts or error messages are collected. We use it only to understand what's working and to improve StarKeeper. It is never used for advertising and never shared with data brokers.
- A random identifier generated on your device the first time you open StarKeeper, so we can tell one device from another and count installs. It is not an advertising identifier, it is never shared with anyone, and it is not linked to you across any other company's app or website.
-
On this website, which pages are viewed and which buttons are clicked,
plus where the visit came from — either a tag on the link we shared, or
the name of the site that linked here (for example
google.com), never the full address. Website visits use their own separate random identifier and are not connected to any account.
Technical information
- Cookies needed to keep you signed in, to remember your preferences — such as the selected date, the active child profile and your time zone — and to carry the random device identifier described above. These are functional and first-party; none of them is an advertising cookie, and none is readable by any other company.
- Standard server logs kept by our hosting providers, which may include IP address and browser type.
What we don't do
- We don't sell or rent your data, or your child's data, to anyone.
- We don't show advertising, and we don't share data with advertisers.
- We don't track you or your child across other companies' apps or websites.
- We don't ask children for personal information, and there is no way for a child to contact anyone through StarKeeper.
- We never see or store your payment card. Prizes inside the app are things you define; no real money changes hands for them.
Plans and payments
StarKeeper offers optional Solo and Family plans, sold as subscriptions through the App Store and Google Play, with a free trial. Apple or Google takes the payment; we never see or store your card number.
To know which plan your account has, we receive from the store — through our subscription service RevenueCat — which plan you bought, when it started, when it renews or ends, and the store's reference for the purchase. RevenueCat knows your account only by a random identifier, never by your name, your email or your child's details. If you redeem a StarKeeper code on our website, we record which code campaign it came from. We keep this plan history for as long as your account exists, and it is deleted with your account.
You can cancel at any time in your App Store or Google Play settings. If a plan ends, nothing is deleted: your history and settings stay visible, and changes pause until you choose a plan again.
Where your data is stored
Application data is stored in a PostgreSQL database hosted by Supabase, in the US East region. The application itself is hosted by Vercel.
Access is enforced at the database level: a parent can only read and write rows belonging to a child they are a member of.
Children's privacy
StarKeeper is designed for parents and guardians. Accounts are created and controlled by an adult. A child may be given a profile to view, and can sign in with an avatar and PIN, but a child cannot create an account, change settings, invite anyone, or enter information about themselves beyond tapping the items their parent set up.
How long we keep it
Your data is kept as long as your account exists, because the point of the service is the history. When you delete a child profile or your account, the records are hidden immediately and permanently removed from the database 14 days later. Copies in our database provider's short-lived backups are overwritten on the backup cycle shortly after that.
Deleting your data
You can delete a child profile, or your whole account, from the Profile & People screen in the app. Deletion takes effect immediately: the profile and everything logged about it disappear.
For 14 days afterwards you can sign in and restore it. After that the records are permanently deleted from our database and cannot be recovered.
If a child is shared with another parent or caregiver, deleting your account removes your access. The child's records stay with the remaining caregiver.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete the personal information we hold, and to object to certain processing.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes materially, we'll update the date at the top and, where the change affects how your data is used, tell account holders by email.
